National Partnerships

USO

  • Grifols is proud of the people who serve in the US military and protect our nation. We are a long-time partner of USO, as many employees and donors are either active military or veterans.
  • The mission of the United Service Organizations (USO) is to strengthen the well-being of the people serving in America’s military and their families. Since 1941, the USO has been serving the US military and their families since 1941. The organization operates centers near military installations around the world, including in combat zones.

Habitat for Humanity

  • Grifols is a long-time partner of Habitat for Humanity both locally and nationally. Over the years, Grifols employees have participated on multiple Habitat house and playground builds.
  • Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit organization with a vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. They work in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.

Supporting local food banks

  • Every March, Grifols’ employees across the United States – from donor centers, corporate offices and manufacturing sites – join together to help address hunger in local communities through our annual Box Out Hunger food drive.
  • Grifols has supported Feeding America, nationally, for 5 years and has donated close to 2.7 Million pounds of food to fight hunger locally.

 

 

Grifols Foundations

The Jose Antonio Grifols Lucas Foundation

  • Provides support to thriving and vibrant communities where plasma donors are valued and appreciated for their gift of plasma. By creating community partnerships, the J.A. Grifols Foundation creates an immediate and enduring impact in the communities they call home.

Community Enhancement Grants

  • The J.A. Grifols Foundation awards community enhancement grants quarterly to support civic, social, or educational programs that address the needs of the communities where Grifols plasma donor centers exist. The Foundation’s Board of Directors, thoroughly reviews and votes on funding based on several factors, including community need and alignment with the Foundation’s mission.

Plasma Donor Emergency Relief Program (PDER)

  • The J.A. Grifols Foundation and National Organization of Rare Disorders (NORD), has established the Plasma Donor Emergency Relief Program to provide eligible donors with essential (non-medical) financial assistance.
  • The PDER program is currently being piloted at 6 US Grifols plasma centers and the Foundation is looking into ways to expand to include additional locations.

 

Specific Events

Box Out Hunger

  • Every March, Grifols’ employees across the United States – from donor centers, corporate offices and manufacturing sites – join together to help address hunger in local communities through our annual Box Out Hunger food drive. Over the last 5 years, Grifols has donated close to 2.7 Million pounds of food to fight hunger locally.

 

Back to School Supply Drives

  • Grifols Back to School supply drive during August and September encourages our plasma centers to partner with schools in their community to collect books, bags, pens, pencils, and other supplies for children unable to afford these items.
  • In the last 3 years, Grifols donors and employees have collected and donated close to 100,000 items to local children. The supplies collected, not only help better prepare students in need, but also instill a sense of hope and excitement as they embark on a new school year.

 

IPAW

  • International Plasma Awareness Week, held annually during the first week of October, highlights the critical role of plasma donation. Launched in 2013 by the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) and its member companies, IPAW aims to raise global awareness about plasma collection and the lifesaving impact of plasma protein thearpies.
  • During this week, Grifols centers plan educational activities and donor appreciation events that encourage donors to learn more about plasma donation. Additionally, Grifols social media accounts share patient and donor stories, emphasizing how every donation can save and improve lives.

 

Gifts of Joy Toy Drive

  • Since 2020, during the holiday season, Grifols employees and donors have partnered with Toys for Tots and local charities, to collect toys for less fortunate children in communities where we operate.
  • No child should have to feel sadness or disappointment during the holiday season and in 3 years, Grifols centers have collected and donated close to 50,000 toys to help bring joy to less fortunate children.
